Did you know that, according to a study by Nielsen the average teenager sends and receives 1,742 text messages a month (combined)? Similar studies also reinforce the idea that cell phones are primarily used for text messaging and not for telephone calls. Again, the average teenager sends/receives 1,742 text messages a month!
In the minds of most teenagers, email and voicemail are hopelessly obsolete. So be watching for unified technologies that can take voicemails, emails, text messages and similar genres of electronic communication and convert them to a common data stream. Text messages, instant messages, emails and voicemails will all have to be tracked, managed, archived, searched and lifecycled just like any other permanent record.
